Spain. More specifically Ibiza. I’ll be back there someday, maybe I’ll retire there? It’s a magical Island. Not at all what you would expect. It’s had a bad rep due to one specific area but there’s so much more to see if you open your mind. It reminds me a little of Laguna… It’s a hippy Island but the beauty of it has attracted enormous wealth and spectacular design. Some would say that spoilt it, but I like to keep an open mind, we have to move with the times.
3. You have a morning with absolutely no obligations or commitments – how would you choose to spend it?
Easy. Get up early, hike, home, pack up a picnic, wake my kids up, walk to the beach, play, swim, surf, home, beer, BBQ, sleep.
4. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Romantic Comedy. I’m a sucker for a silly love story. Oh and watching my kids sleep, which they think is creepy…
5. What’s the most unique/uncomfortable/craziest thing you’ve done and recommend that others try as well?
Coasteering. Basically jumping off huge cliff faces or rocky coastlines into the Sea. I accompanied a youth group to Pembrokeshire, Wales in 2005 and tried it. It was organized, but it was frightening, unnerving and thrilling at the same time. I was terrified as I was about to jump, not quite knowing what was below me but the sense of achievement and the feeling of freedom when I hit the water was amazing. Sometimes you just have to jump right in.
6. What remains undone that you hope to set to your sights on?
To raise strong, independent, caring, creative wise adults. My kids are 11 and 14 – my sights are firmly set on getting them to adulthood safely and ensuring they are the best adults they can be. Allowing them to make mistakes now, to limit the ones they may make as adults…as those are usually illegal!
7. Which article from the Art Of The Gentlewoman collection is your favorite, why?
The slouch blazer, it’s so versatile. I wore it with a dress and my Vans the other day and it looked super cute.
8. Describe what you do.
It may be easier to describe what I don’t do.. haha! I’m a mummy, and a KX 93.5 radio DJ. I do two shows: Schools out, which is for the youth of Laguna Beach and Smashed, which is a dance music show.
I’m a freelance DJ, working in Laguna Beach, LA, San Diego and beyond (whoever hires me).
I’m a writer and account executive for Stu News as well as a freelance writer. I have my own company LB Luxury Events and I’ve recently started to help a couple of businesses with their social media marketing. In short- I’m busy.
9. Favorite book, quote, or best piece of advice?
“The Twits” which is a children’s book and has a lovely message:
“A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”
We live in an age where we are dominated by looking perfect and I really do believe beauty comes from your heart, your soul and your intentions. That’s what I tell myself every time I squeeze into my bikini anyway….
